The Lae Botanic Garden and the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium are two of the facilities that the Lae City Authority wants to take ownership of.

Lae MP and Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso is currently having dialogue with the Forest Minister and the Higher Education and Sports Minister to have those two facilities ownership transferred to the LCA to manage and develop.

Mr Rosso said this on Saturday during the Rosso Cup mountain bike race launching in Lae.

He said the botanical garden is an ideal spot that can be developed for the people of Lae to enjoy in leisure

The cartoon murals which appeared at a reception centre for small boats arrivals in Kent were not the “requisite decoration”, a Home Office minister has said. 

Minister for migration and borders Lord Murray of Blidworth said the cartoons, which were painted over at the facility in Dover on the order of immigration minister Robert Jenrick, were “not approved by the Home Office”.

The cartoons included pictures of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, as well as Tom and Jerry. They were removed on Tuesday last week, as first reported by the i newspaper.
