Wegerzyn Gardens, a 50-year-old botanical garden in Dayton, Ohio, is celebrating its anniversary this year. In 1967, local millionaire and amateur gardener, Benjamin Wegerzyn, donated 1000 shares of Xerox stock to build a flower conservatory at the then newly constructed DeWeese Park.

As plans for the park expanded and Wegerzyn became more invested, the park was renamed in 1973 as the Benjamin Wegerzyn Horticultural Center.

Kenyans, by and large, are non-confrontational and conservative as a people, adds The Bar Africa. The idea was to go against form and depict the opposite: pitting people against each other in the fight for their favourite furniture pieces in the ‘Furniture Palace Mid-Year Sale’ campaign.

The executions followed this theme across

The self-described South African “writer, editor, cultural worker and artist”—and now debut feature filmmaker—Milisuthando Bongela grew up under apartheid. Yet she also didn’t, at least not within the straightforward narrative of having witnessed a racist colonial regime heroically toppled by Black liberator Nelson Mandela.
